Romcom: Just Go With It (2011)

movie review rating meter

When it’s a Adam Sandler film you know what to expect: over the top farce, cast roles for Sandler’s buddies, some heart felt moments and always a happy ending. Just Go With It is no different. Some jokes are offensive, domestic workers take a bit of a beating, but they are easily forgiven, it’s Sandler, what else is to be expected.

There always is an emphasis on family ties but unlike Grownups where it overwhelms, even dulls what could have a been an upbeat film, family ties here drive the joke and farce to a point of stitches-in-your-side hysteria. There are moments that strain at trying to be funny but the kids give a naturally comedic performance.
