Ford Ready For Battle

Team Ford Racing will once again contest the premier class of the Absa Off Road Championship with Chris Visser and Japie Badenhorst doing duty in their SP Ford Ranger. Up-and-coming youngster Lance Woolrdige proved with his performance last season, that he is one to watch, and will again be partnered by Ward Huxtable.

The RFS Magalies 400 gets underway on Friday 08 March in the Tarlton area, it will be the first of eight nation-wide events.

“We are eager to start the season on a strong note,” said Visser.

Great start to 2012 season

Team Ford Racing had a great start to their 2012 Bridgestone Production Car campaign taking a race win and three podiums at Zwartkops Raceway (Pretoria West) on Saturday 3 March 2012.

The team got off to a relatively calm start, using Friday’s practice sessions to fine tune the handling set-up on their Ford Focus STs. Their strategy paid off with Gary Formato qualifying second and Shaun Duminy fourth for the first race.

By the end of the eight lap sprint, Formato was third and Duminy fourth. Positions that served them well as the top six finishers were inverted for the second race grid. This placed Duminy third and Formato fourth.

East London GP Circuit to host Pro Tour National Championships

Hot news for Eastern Cape motorsport fans is that the first national championship motorsport event of the season is scheduled for the East London Grand Prix Circuit in the middle of March.

The recent untimely accidental death of local car racing hero Curt Alchin shadows the second round of the Pro Tour Motor Racing Road Show, South Africa’s largest and most exciting circuit racing event.

The event will be staged on Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th of March,

Castrol Toyota Driver is Motor Sportsman of the Year

Castrol Toyota rally driver Leeroy Poulter, who burst into the top echelon of national championship rallying last year and ended the season as the top-seeded driver, received the Bridgestone/Guild of Motoring Journalists Motor Sportsman of the Year award for 2011 at a function in Johannesburg last night.

The 30-year-old, driving a factory Castrol Toyota Auris, won two rounds of last year’s championship in his first season in the premier Super 2000 rally class and established himself as the consistently fastest special stage driver according to the driver seedings scoring system.

2011 Champions, Team Ford Racing, are feeling confident ahead of the start of the 2012 Bridgestone Production Car season. The first race will take place to the team’s advantage at their home track, Zwartkops Raceway (Pretoria West).
