EFC Africa 14 - bring it on!
EFC AFRICA returns to Johannesburg for EFC AFRICA 14, where featherweight and lightweight titles will be contested and Africa’s top mixed martial artists will battle it out in the hexagon. The fights that have been put in place will devide the men from the boys, but SA Men is looking forward to the Costa Ioannou and Adam Speechly match up! This will be the fight everybody is going to talk about!

All systems are go for EFC AFRICA 13 at the GrandWest Grand Arena tomorrow night! All 26 athletes made weight at the GrandWest Market Hall on 12 April amid intense stare-downs. Cape Town’s first EFC AFRICA weigh-in attracted a large crowd of animated fight fans. Cheers for Cape Town’s local favourites and popular out-of-towners filled the hall as MMA athletes took the stage for the public weigh-in.

There is something about a good fight that just gets the heart pumping! We are built to be warriors at heart, but lets be honest, we need to preserve ourselves as well. Bagattin hunts redemption at EFC AFRICA 13
Popular Johannesburg fighter Dino Bagattin rushes straight back into the EFC AFRICA hexagon to avenge his recent loss at EFC AFRICA 12. Despite an excellent first round for the East Rand Muay Thai specialist, the grappling prowess of his opponent, Michiel Opperman, derailed his hopes of victory at 2:37 into round two.
Van Staden and Opperman battle for title shot
Not only will EFC AFRICA 13 feature the welterweight division’s most important fight yet (Dallas Jakobi vs Jadyson Costa for the welterweight title) it will also feature another massive welterweight war as Martin van Staden and Michiel Opperman clash to decide who is next in line to challenge the champion.
Van Niekerk vs Taljaard at EFC AFRICA 12
With just two days to go to Africa’s premier MMA event, Nigeria’s Steven Momah has withdrawn from EFC AFRICA 12 due to health concerns. He has been replaced by Pretoria’s Markus Taljaard, an undefeated lightweight prodigy who holds a professional record of 3-0 and an incredible amateur record of 9-0.
“Ever since I started MMA I wanted to be a professional fighter and compete at the highest level,” said Taljaard. “At the beginning of the year I increased the intensity of my training with the goal of getting into EFC AFRICA, so when the call came through that a late replacement was needed, I was extremely happy to step in.
EFC Africa stars offer predictions for EFC Africa 12
EFC AFRICA 12 is almost here and opinion is sharply divided on whether Garreth ‘Soldierboy’ McLellan will remain EFC AFRICA middleweight champion when he faces Jeremy ‘Pitbull’ Smith. A number of EFC AFRICA athletes were eager to give their professional opinions on all four main card bouts. Iakobidze vs Buirski at EFC Africa 12
The full fight card for EFC AFRICA 12 is now complete, with the recently signed Koba Iakobidze vs Gareth Buirski bringing the total number of bouts on the card to 12.
Iakobidze is originally from Georgia, where he was five time national boxing champion holding a record of 90 wins, 2 losses. He now lives in Pretoria and fights out of the renowned Team CIT gym. He has a professional MMA record of 1-1. According to Iakobidze, he’s looking forward to showcasing his dangerous hands in Africa’s premier MMA event.
