Luminox Point Man the better mans watch

Every reconnaissance team needs a leader, and that leader, the Point Man, needs certain tools—the essential gear that will help him navigate the terrain and keep his team on target and out of danger.

Luminox, maker of essential gear time pieces that are relied on and requested by elite military and law enforcement groups around the world, answers the call with the Point Man, the first watch in its all-new RECON Series.

Special Features

The Point Man can be used to determine bearings whenever the sun is visible. Simply point the hour hand in the direction of the sun, then, on the dial, locate the shortest distance between the hour hand and 12. The halfway point of that segment will indicate South (when the wearer’s location is in the Northern Hemisphere) or North (in the Southern Hemisphere).

Walking Speed Scale

Using a Point Man watch, you can calculate the approximate average walking/hiking speed in an hour. The Point Offers a tachymeter scaled to measure walking speeds. Its specially marked concentric tachymetric scales, allows readout of average walking speeds. Simply time how long it takes to walk 50 meters (164 feet), and read off the corresponding speed in miles per hour or in kilometers per hour.

This calculation is based on a distance of 50m. As the average step length of a person varies as a function of his height, it is recommended that you measure how many steps you personally need to walk 50m, prior to beginning your calculation.

Example:

Example: One step is approximately 75cm

- Knowing how many steps you need to cover 50m, start counting your steps when the

second-hand is on 12 o’clock

- With the last step when you have covered the distance of 50m, read the second-hand on

the Walking Speed scale to estimate how fast you are walking in an hour (km/h)

- For example, if you need 30 seconds to cover 50m, your average approximate walking

speed is 6km/h.

Note: If you are walking/hiking in a group, the calculation should always be based on the

slowest walking person.
